Despite the rain (which was welcomed by every single farm in the state---we haven't had enough for too many months!), the Food Fest was a wonderful success again this year! The following Vermont farms and food producers provided delectable food: Amy's Granola, Bloomfield Gardens, Bove's of Vermont, Good Companion Bakery, Island Homemade Ice Cream, Jim's Custom Cutting, Kingdom Mountain Maple, Lakes End Cheeses and Chocolates, Last Resort Farm, Maple Wind Farm, Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA), Pizza on Earth, Rockville Market Farm, Shelburne Farms and O'Bread Bakery, Shelburne Orchards, Shelburne Vineyard, Sonia's Salsa, Stony Loam Farm, Stony Pond Farm, Taylor Farm, Vadeboncoeur Nougat, Vermont Coffee Company, and Vermont Soy Company.

Blue Norther, Hammer & Saw, Hibernators, Magnolias, Meat Packers, Red Thread, and Twist of the Wrist played music all day long, much to the delight of the crowds in their raincoats. Sheila Braun brought Harry the Party Donkey for the kids to ride. Phin Sonin taught kids how to juggle. Art and Pat Blair showed how rope is made the old-fashioned way. Bob Blair was back on his feet after too many hip problems this year and skillfully guided the tractor hayrides though the orchard. The haybale maze was full of kids, even as the rain drizzled down. A clown toss and facepainting rounded out the events. The Pie House was humming with cider doughnuts and apple pies being created. The Cider House Farm Market was packed with people purchasing T-shirts and other goodies. And folks picked apples off the trees to take home.

A virtual army of volunteers helped out by facepainting, directing traffic, selling food, staffing the entrance gates, etc. A huge round of applause to each and every one of you! Special thanks to Erin Buckwalter and Gavin Wallace for their particular talents in organizing people and cars. And all of the folks who work and volunteer at the orchard need to be acknowledged: Adam, Anna, Brian, Dave, Evan, Greg, Johnny, Liz, Moriah, Patrick, Robbie, Runkel, Terry, and Tina.

The Vermont Coffee Company was generous enough to donate its proceeds from the day to the Vermont Foodbank---which was $220! And thanks to one and all who donated food to the Chittenden County Food Shelf.

Congratulations to Nora von Stange for winning the gorgeous handmade (by Terry) picnic table and to Aimee Beach for winning the basket of Shelburne Orchards and Sweet Basil Cards goodies in our raffle!

We have the Vendor & Musician Resource List from the Food Fest if you would like to get more info about any farm, food producer, or band. Please contact Megan at 864-7528 or meganh@sover.net and we'll send one off to you.

Whether you came to pick apples or taste the food or listen to the music, thank you for supporting local farming!
