This is a 2” caliper (trunk diameter) Empire apple tree.

*There is a scar on the trunk of the tree (see photo). We have decreased the price of the tree for this reason.

Empire is an excellent variety for home planting!. It has the excellent flavor of its Macintosh parent, with a touch more sweetness. This productive tree is disease-resistant to fire blight and cedar apple rust. You can plant it farther south than other McIntosh and expect better color. Originates from Geneva, New York circa 1945. Introduced in 1966. Cold-hardy. Ripens in mid-October in Vermont.
